What are path studies?
Open UAS Path studies are an alternative route to becoming a degree programme student. You study with the Degree student group via the Metropolia Open UAS for the duration of the first semester from September to December 2024, having the opportunity to complete the first 20 ECTS of the Master’s Degree Programme in Osteopathy. You follow the same curriculum as the Degree students.
Target Audience, to whom?
Open UAS Path studies are suitable for you if:
- you would like to obtain a Master’s Degree in Osteopathy, but did not apply during the Joint Application in January 2024
- your goal is to become a degree programme student
- you enjoy studying purposefully
- you are ready for full-time studies
- you want to continue directly to Master’s degree studies right away after a bachelor's degree (before fulfilling the work experience requirement set for the joint application process)
Realisation and content
Studies take place solely online. The language of the studies is English. The studies consist of interactive online contact sessions, group work and independent studies on the learning platform including professional literature, pre-recorded lectures etc. Flipped learning is often used.
The lecturers are permanent members of the Metropolia staff or outstanding international experts in the field of osteopathy and osteopathic research such as Robert Shaw, Jorge Esteves, Jerry Draper-Rodi, Oliver Thomson and Hazel Mansfield.
There is no need to travel to Finland for the studies, but the students are responsible for their own internet connection and other IT facilities as prerequisites for successful online studies. There are mandatory synchronous online sessions that require the students’ presence. Communication, collaboration and networking between the students and their lecturers is an important part of the study experience!
Open UAS Path studies during the autumn of 2024 consist of 20 ECTS:
- Research Methods and Skills (5 ECTS), studyguide
- Advanced Quantitative Research Method Skills (5 ECTS), studyguide
