Course contents
The production of accompaniment in various styles (e.g. beat/pop, blues, latin and dance music) for the purposes of teaching music from a score, chord symbols or by ear. Perceiving and implementation of harmony. Composing accompaniments. Understanding improvisation and rhythmic elements. Introductory improvisation exercises and techniques.
Assessment criteria
Approved / Failed
The student can complete and submit given exercises and assignments according to schedule.
The student is able to identify their strengths and areas of development and work towards their learning goals with determination.

Learning outcomes of the course
The student comprehends different types of musical content related to their work as a music educator. The student can produce sounding score and accompaniment through playing by ear, or by reducing, embellishing or transposing the written chord symbols and notation in the context of their pedagogical practices. The student is able to produce the most common harmonic phenomena with a harmony instrument.
The student is able to use different elements and phenomena of music in improvisation and teaching.

Degree according to the extended syllabus level of basic education in music or equivalent skills and knowledge.

The course is completed in Moodle by studying the instructional videos and completing and submitting the course assignments.

Assessment is based on the achievement of the course objectives, the completion and submission of assignments, and the student’s ability to apply the accompaniment techniques and styles covered in the course in practice.
