Automotive Engineering, Bachelor's Degree

Consisting of 240 ECTS credits and taking four years, Automotive Engineering degree programme students complete a Bachelor of Engineering degree.

Most of the country’s commercial automotive business and jobs are in the capital region. It is therefore natural that Metropolia’s Automotive Engineering studies have been designed to meet the expectations of car importers and local dealerships. Owing to direct links between the car trade and the manufacturers and the increasing subcontracting industry, technical expertise of specific products has become more and more important. Metropolia’s Automotive Engineering department is also a major Transport Logistics trainer.

Expertise through top projects

In automotive engineering projects the students apply their skills in real-life situations and also learn more about the principles of team work and management they were initially taught in connection with lab and other practical exercises and projects. The degree programme is very successful and has received an abundance of publicity through major student projects.

Good job prospects for automotive engineers

The employment prospects are very good in the automotive industry. Automotive engineers are employed not only by the commercial car business but also find employment in professional training, government administration and car inspection. Inspection training was started by the Automotive Engineering department in 2006 in cooperation with car inspection companies and the Centre for Technical Training.
