Orthoses and prostheses for better quality of life

Students of prosthetics and orthotics create solutions that increase their clients’ mobility or work ability by means of tailor-made orthoses and prostheses and by developing the client’s immediate environment.

Such include

  • limb prostheses
  • orthoses
  • mobility aids
  • orthopaedic shoes and insoles
  • aids for daily activities and environmental control
  • aids used with musculoskeletal disorders.

The work consists of the assessment of need for aids, followed by its design, manufacture and maintenance. The students must also be able to assess whether the aid is suitable for its user, to instruct on its use and operation, and to arrange follow-up and special services.
